Restoration Logic is the new informative blog for Hurricane Restoration where we will discuss all things roofing and construction. While we started out as a small family owned operation, we are quickly growing into one of the premier roofing and construction companies in the state of Georgia, and coming soon - Florida. The purpose of this blog is teach you the things we’ve learned about the roofing and construction industry, insurance companies, expanding your small business, and anything else you’d like to learn about! For quick, short answers to our most common questions, see our FAQ page.
This blog provides information about what’s going on in the industry, new rules for roofing, and how your insurance company actually WANTS you to get a new roof. Yes, you read that right. Our most common concern with new customers is their insurance premium going up or their insurance company dropping them all together. When Hurricane Restoration comes in to replace your roof there will be visible damage (to the trained eye of course) from wind or hail. All it takes is a wind speed of 60mph or greater to damage your shingles; greatly reducing their reliability. The older your roof is, the more susceptible it is to damage from these storms. Now, back to the part where I said insurance companies want you to get a new roof. The whole thought process around roofing has changed drastically over the years because they realized if they keep the roofs in good condition, their overall claim cost goes down over the life of your policy. NBC even did an article on ways to REDUCE your insurance premiums, and getting a new roof was one of their suggestions.
Think of it this way - if you wait until your roof is leaking and causing damage to the inside of your home, the insurance company now has to pay to fix everything. They would much rather pay for a new roof than a new roof + tarping the leaks, water mitigation, mold remediation, drywall, painting, flooring, etc. the list really goes on.
At Hurricane Restoration, once we put a new roof on your home, we send a Letter of Completion to your insurance company showing you got a new roof, everything is up to code, and protecting your home the way that it should. This letter can certainly result in your premiums going down since you are active in taking care of your property. Another huge benefit of a new roof, in addition to its overall curb-appeal, is the increased home value. According to a study done by the “Cost vs. Value Report”, a new roof adds about $15, 427 onto the value of your home.
We know that getting a roof may seem like a big hassle, but let me assure you - we handle it all for you! We help you make the claim with your insurance company, act as your liaison to the insurance adjuster so you barely have to speak to them, we are there with the adjuster for your adjustment to show them the damage we see, we are also there the day of the job to ensure everything goes perfectly and you are happy.
